10th National Stroke Awareness Conference Begins In Karachi

KARACHI: The 10th National Conference on Stroke Awareness under the auspices of the Pakistan Stroke Society has started, and it will continue to be held till 31st October.  

Prof. Dr Muhammad Was, Dr Anjum Farooq, Dr Qasim Bashir, Dr Abdul Malik and others were also present during the announcement by neurologists.

On the third day of the conference, a public awareness session will be held on Sunday, 31st October at 3.30 pm, in which neurologists, journalists and patients will participate.

Minutes can save lives. "The convening of the National Conference is a link in the same chain. A large number of doctors and medical professionals from all over the country are participating in the conference. He said that stroke should become the fourth primary disease in Pakistan in the coming years.  

To prevent this, stroke, like heart disease, should be declared a medical emergency. Brain attack centres should be set up in government hospitals. The public should be made aware of the prevention of this disease, experts said. If the delivery is not as required or if a clot of clotted blood reaches the brain's arteries along with the blood flow, a stroke can occur. Our brains need blood every second. If the blood or oxygen supply to the brain is cut off, it is severely damaged. About 32,000 cells die every second and 2 million every minute.

Citing research, the experts said that Pakistan is one of the countries where the rate of stroke is highest among people under the age of 45, while Pakistanis suffer from a stroke ten years earlier than the rest of the world.  

The main reasons for rising blood pressure and heavy smoking in Pakistan are paralysis. These include sudden vision loss, memory loss, sudden severe headaches or fainting, among others. To reduce the risk of stroke, control blood pressure and sugar, reduce blood fats, avoid large meats and fats in the diet, and walk for at least 15 days and 30 minutes a day to reduce the risk of stroke by 20%.
