WHO’s ACT For At Risk Nations Requires $23.4 Billion

GENEVA: The World Health Organization (WHO) recently announced that their plan to secure and administer vaccines, tests and treatments to combat the Covid-19 pandemic needed $23.4 billion over the next 12 months.

The Access to COVID-19 Tools (ACT) Accelerator consists of a collection of crucial policies to address critical lapses in access to COVID-19 vaccines, treatments, tests and personal protective equipment (PPE) in lower-income nations.

The WHO had initiated its plan for the next 12 months, outlining the arrangements and budget needed to address deep gaps in the COVID-19 response, to save millions of lives and end the pandemic's acute stage.

"The ACT-Accelerator partnership of leading global health agencies needs $23.4 billion to help the most at-risk countries secure and deploy Covid-19 tools between now and September 2022," the WHO said in a statement.
