Dengue cases surpass 15,000 in Punjab

LAHORE: The incidence of dengue cases in Punjab has exceeded 15,060 this year, with an additional four cases reported in Lahore over the last 24 hours.

According to Ali Jan Khan, Secretary of the Punjab Health Department, Rawalpindi has reported a total of 2,654 dengue cases this year. Currently, 16 patients with dengue fever are under treatment in various hospitals across the province.

Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral disease that has rapidly proliferated worldwide in the past few years. The transmission of the dengue virus primarily occurs through female mosquitoes, predominantly of the Aedes aegypti species.
