Sindh Healthcare Commission seals 768 healthcare facilities

KARACHI: During the first quarter of 2022, the Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC) closed 768 healthcare facilities due to law violations and malpractices.

An anti-quackery team from the SHCC conducted 2,564 inspections and enforcement visits, during which 495 healthcare businesses were determined to comply with the law, and 1,581 were found to violate the law.

The SHCC took action against the lawbreakers, sealing 768 healthcare facilities and issuing 813 warnings for malpractice and policy infractions.

Four hundred thirty follow-up inspections were also carried out to guarantee compliance with the relevant law.

Non-qualified or acting beyond the jurisdiction of the law, health practitioners were also subject to fines. Multiple offenders were fined a total of Rs4.8 million during the period.

Zeeshan Shah, Director of the SHCC Anti-Quackery, claimed that the commission grew by 47% in the quarter. Medical professionals' safety has been a top priority for the commission, which has been working around the clock with law authorities.
