BAHAWALPUR: The Islamia University of Bahawalpur is taking steps to start classes in the newly established University College of Nursing, Faculty of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences.  

In this regard, a delegation of the Special Health Care and Medical Education Department, Government of Punjab visited the University College of Nursing, Faculty of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences. The purpose of the visit was to link the University College of Nursing with the government hospitals. The delegation called on Engr. Prof. Dr Athar Mahboob, the Vice-Chancellor of IUB, and Prof. Dr Naveed Akhtar, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor. The delegation included Dr Mansoor Ghani, Assistant Professor and Secretary of the Affiliation Committee, University of Sciences, Lahore and Mubashira Maqbool, Assistant Director-General of Punjab. Dr Fazal Mehmood Khan, Director of Health Education, Dr Farhan, the Principal of the University College of Nursing and faculty members were present.

The delegation members expressed happiness over establishing the State of the Art University College of Nursing at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. They appreciated the infrastructure and facilities provided in the college and assured all possible cooperation from their side. The delegation was informed that many Allied Medical Education undergraduate and postgraduate programs are being launched at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur.

It is worth mentioning that a few days ago, a delegation of the Nursing Council also visited the University College of Nursing, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and had a meeting with Dr Naveed Akhtar and faculty members and reviewed the facilities of the college. It is hoped that classes will be launched in the nursing college very soon.
