Islamabad establishes two quarantine facilities

ISLAMABAD: In the capital, two buildings, including a hotel, had been turned into quarantine facilities.

According to Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Hamza Shafqaat, following the discovery of Omicron, a novel genotype of Covid-19, quarantine facilities were established in an OGDCL hostel in I-9 and the Redison Hotel in Blue Area Hamza Shafqaat.

He noted that the two businesses' managements offered the premises as quarantine centres.

The Marriott and Serena hotels were also considered for the quarantine centres. However, they were withdrawn off the list owing to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting being hosted in the capital.

According to a notification issued by the DC's office, the capital administration had decided to revive/establish quarantine centres in the OGDCL I-9 hostel and Hotel Redison in light of the new genotype of Covid19 virus and in accordance with the containment policy of the National Command Operation Center (NCOC).

More quarantine facilities would be established in the city, according to Additional Deputy Commissioner Sheryar Arif Khan.
