KARACHI: The COVID-19 positive percentage in Karachi and Lahore had recently increased alarmingly. 

According to health officials, 5403 COVID-19 tests were performed in Karachi in the last 24 hours, with 633 patients testing positive for a positivity rate of 11.72 per cent.

Furthermore, Lahore, the provincial capital of Punjab, had seen a spike in COVID-19 infections, reporting 353 cases of infection in the last 24 hours. According to health officials, the positivity percentage in Lahore has reached 6.33 per cent after 5591 tests were completed, with 353 persons testing positive.

The fifth wave of COVID-19 appears to be booming, as Pakistan reported 1,345 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, marking the third day in a row with more than 1,000 infections.

According to data released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), the country's nerve centre for COVID-19 response, a total of 46,537 samples were evaluated, with 1,345 proving positive, representing a national positivity percentage of 2.89 per cent.
