KARACHI: The Sindh Healthcare Commission’s (SHCC) Anti Quackery team went on a prompt inspection and enforcement activity in Larkana and sealed the operating theatre and pathology lab of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Medical Center.

SHCC’s Anti-quackery team inspected the hospital and found that they did not have the relevant medical staff in specific departments at the healthcare facility.

Effective Anti-Quackery campaigns have been carried through Sindh across October 2021 to eradicate quackery in the province.

The Directorate of Clinical Governance is responsible for assuring quality in all health facilities. In this regard, training was conducted for General Practitioners in the Karachi division, where they were provided awareness regarding the working of the SHCC, its operational directorates and quality standards for clinics.

These were mandatory one-time free training sessions on standards notified by the Government of Sindh, which will help improve the quality of health facilities. A total of 55 clinics registered with the SHCC attended the session. The implementation of standards and difficulties to meet them were discussed. A separate session was also conducted for hospitals on quality standards.

Two online sessions were conducted for Infection Prevention and Control in collaboration with the Medical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases Society of Pakistan (MMIDSP).

89 health facilities attended the first session. The second session, organized exclusively for nurses, was attended by 100 nursing staff from various hospitals and nursing schools of the Karachi, Larkana, Sukkur and Shaheed Benazirabad divisions.
