Sindh Healthcare Commission introduces online registration for healthcare establishments under World Bank-funded CLICK Project

KARACHI: In a major step toward digital transformation in the health sector, the Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC) has officially launched an online registration system for healthcare establishments through a strategic partnership with the Sindh Business One Stop Shop (SBOSS). This initiative is part of the World Bank-supported Competitive & Livable City of Karachi (CLICK) Project.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between SHCC and SBOSS marks a significant shift from manual to fully digitized registration and licensing processes. The aim is to ensure easier, faster, and more transparent services for healthcare providers in Sindh.

“We are proud to enter the digital age with a solution that puts accessibility and efficiency first,” said Dr. Khalid Hussain Shaikh, Chairman SHCC.

He called the initiative a major leap in public service delivery, aligned with the Government of Sindh’s broader digital vision.

Behzad Amir Memon, Project Director CLICK, praised the collaborative effort between the teams, highlighting how digitalization promotes user convenience and transparency in government services.

Dr. Ahson Qavi Siddiqi, CEO SHCC, shared the strategic intent behind the move:

“The Board of Commissioners entrusted us with automating the registration of doctors and hospitals. Thanks to the leadership of Dr. Mirza Ali Azhar, Chair of the DLA Committee, we’ve achieved this milestone at remarkable speed.”

He also noted that SHCC’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is 80% complete, and despite funding hurdles, they are optimistic about donor support to resume and finalize the project soon.

Dr. Mirza Ali Azhar, Member BoC and Convener of the Committee, reaffirmed the mission:

“Our primary goal is to simplify the registration process while safeguarding the rights of healthcare providers and the patients they serve.”

The MoU signing event was attended by senior stakeholders, including Dr. A. Ghafoor Shoro, Ghulam Rasool Shah, Dr. Sameer Qureshi, Dr. Shoaib Ghangat, and representatives from SHCC and SBOSS.

This partnership demonstrates how collaborative governance and technology can streamline regulatory frameworks and improve public sector performance, especially in health regulation — a key component of citizen well-being and trust.
