KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has officially approved the appointment of Dr Nazli Hossain as Vice Chancellor of Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) and Dr Nek Muhammad Sheikh as Vice Chancellor of the University of Larkana, strengthening academic leadership at two of Sindh’s key universities.

According to official details, Dr Nazli Hossain secured the highest merit score of 74.8 percent in the selection process, earning her appointment as VC of DUHS. Other contenders included Dr Jahan Ara Hassan (70.33 percent) and Dr Syed Khalid Ashrafi (62.2 percent), though Dr Ashrafi’s name could not be considered due to pending security clearance.

For the university of Larkana, Dr Nek Muhammad Sheikh, who topped the list with 71.83 percent, has been approved as VC. His competitors were Dr Imamuddin Khoso (65.6 percent) and Dr Syed Munir Ahmed Shah (64 percent).

Other Universities Under Consideration

Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah also announced that he will personally conduct interviews for the vice chancellor positions of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University of Law (SZABUL) and the University of Sindh before finalizing their appointments.

At SZABUL, Justice Kausar Sultana is ranked first, followed by Muhammad Shahid Shafiq and Dr Tehreem Farrukh. For the University of Sindh, Dr Fateh Muhammad Marri is the top candidate, with Dr Khalilur Rehman Kambati and Dr Tariq Rahim Soomro ranked next.

The advertisement for the post of vice chancellor at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences (SBBUVAS) will be reissued as the top candidate, Dr Parshottam Khatri was not cleared by security agencies.
