Inquiry committee formed to probe stipend issue of Lyari Nursing College

KARACHI: Sindh Health Department has constituted a three-member inquiry committee to inquire about the distribution of stipends in Nursing College, Lyari Karachi.

The inquiry committee comprised Riaz Ahmed Jakhrani, Deputy Secretary (General), Health Department, Ghulam Shabbir Jhatial,  Director Nursing, SNEB Karachi(member), and Khadim  Hussain, Section Officer(NC) Health Department (member/convener).

The committee members were assigned to inquire about the veracity of stipend disbursement and allegations of corruption, to verify the attendance of students and allegations of favoritism & physical violence & harassment, and to inquire about the veracity of outsiders controlling the affairs of the college

The committee is further assigned to fix the responsibility and suggest recommendations based on findings, to submit the report within 7 working days, and the committee is authorized to co-opt any member. 

Shabana Baloch Physically & Sexually Harassed Male Students

Previously, Shabana Baloch, Principal, Lyari College of Nursing, was accused of sexually abusing male nursing students by Syed Abdul Rasheed, MPA, Jamaat-e-Islami. 

Syed Abdul Rasheed asserted that Shabana Baloch took a bribe of PKR 300,000 from students, tormented students, and stripped them naked prior to torturing them.

Syed Abdul Rasheed disclosed the stunning revelation while protesting with the male nursing students of Lyari in front of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh.
