AKU’s Dr Khairulnissa Ajani shares leadership journey at global “She Leads” event

Dr Khairulnissa Ajani, Director at the Aga Khan University (AKU) Network of Quality, Teaching and Learning (QTL_net), was recently invited to share her leadership journey at the “She Leads: Women in Leadership” event hosted by Advance HE for the British University in Egypt.

The “She Leads” program is a global initiative under Advance HE’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) framework. Designed with an experiential approach to leadership development, it equips women with the skills, confidence, and networks needed to thrive in leadership roles across academia and professional sectors.

Inspiring women leaders in academia and beyond

During the event, Dr Ajani’s story encouraged participants to reflect on:

• Their own leadership styles.
• How to strengthen relationships with peers.
• The importance of cultural contexts in shaping inclusive leadership.

Her participation emphasized the role of women leaders in higher education and the impact of inclusive leadership practices in creating more equitable academic environments.
