LAHORE: As the fifth wave of the COVID-19 epidemic intensifies across Punjab, including Lahore, there is a shortage of antipyretic drugs at pharmacies.

As per sources, this phenomenon distressed patients and their families. Taking note of the shortage of medicines, Usman Buzdar, Chief Minister of Punjab, directed the authorities to take stern action against the culprits.

On the other hand, Imran Sikandar Baloch, Secretary, Health Department, Punjab, stated no shortage of antipyretic medicines in Punjab. At present, the province has a total stock of 68.6 million tablets.

Moreover, Marriyum Aurangzeb, a spokesperson for the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), had criticised the government over the country's medicine scarcity.

She said in a tweet that the country is experiencing a shortage of a common fever-treating medication during the fifth COVID-19 pandemic wave. She slammed the government, alleging that Imran Khan's administration had slashed opportunities for everyone.
