PNMC releases list of 38 fake nursing colleges operating in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Nursing and Midwifery Council (PNMC) has issued a strong warning about the presence of 38 fake nursing colleges across Pakistan. The council has clarified that any degrees or diplomas obtained from these unregistered institutions will not be recognized.

PNMC has urged students and parents to verify the accreditation status of nursing colleges before admission, emphasizing that enrolling in fake institutions not only wastes time and money but also endangers the quality of healthcare delivery in the country.

Where these fake colleges are located

The council’s list includes colleges in multiple provinces:

• Islamabad (5 colleges): Capital College of Nursing and Medical Health, Edward College of Nursing, National Institute of Modern Languages and Sciences, The Institute of Health Sciences, Unique Technical and Professional.
• Punjab (25 colleges): Spread across Attock, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Jhang, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sahiwal, Sargodha, and Sialkot, including institutions such as Boston International College of Nursing, Muhammadan College of Nursing, Professional Studies Institute of Nursing, and Saviour Institute of Medical Sciences.
• Sindh (5 colleges): Aman Institute of Health Sciences and Nursing, Mediaid School of Nursing, Pre Institute of Nursing and Health Sciences in Karachi; College of Nursing in Hyderabad; Kainat Institute of Nursing in Khairpur.
• Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (2 colleges): Mardan College of Nursing and Orbit College of Nursing and Allied Sciences.

PNMC’s warning to the public

According to PNMC, students graduating from these fake institutions will not be eligible for registration, licensure, or legal practice as nurses or midwives in Pakistan. The council stressed that the rise of such colleges undermines the credibility of the nursing profession and risks producing unqualified practitioners.

PNMC further highlighted Pakistan’s shortage of qualified nurses and the urgent need to strengthen quality nursing education rather than allow unregulated colleges to exploit vulnerable students.
