JSMU donated goods of millions of worth to flood victims

KARACHI: In response to the devastation caused by the flood, the Jinnah Sindh Medical University dispersed millions of dollars in donations to the most vulnerable of the impacted population.

Dr Rahat Naz accompanied Mrs Anisa Amjad and Dr Sameera Hamid to flood-affected areas in Matiari and ensured the distribution of critical aid, including cash, rations, blankets, and mattresses, as well as free polio protection drugs.

In a statement of appreciation to the JSMU community, Vice Chancellor Prof. Amjad Siraj Memon stated that the cash donated by the JSMU community could assist in establishing more relief camps. 

He asked the community leaders to assess the extent of the flood damage and determine how JSMU's aid may be utilized further.

Dr Rahat Naz and Dr Sameera Hamid offered mothers and children free medical care. In addition, Mrs Amjad ensured that households received relief supplies, administered polio drops, and handed gifts to children.

The JSMU Alumni Association has contributed millions to flood-affected communities to support relief efforts. The humanitarian supplies were unloaded at the Matiari District and handed to the victims of the flooding. 

Dr Javed Sulaiman, a JSMU alumnus, contributed emergency supplies from the United States, while Former District Chairman Matiari Makhdoom Fakhar Zaman visited the camp.

The flood relief endeavour was part of the Jinnah Sindh Medical University's comprehensive efforts. The medical professionals and relief work team collaborated with UC Chairman Wafa Sarfarazullah Jorio Khaskheli to mobilize health services. Office Assistant Mohammad Murtaza ul Haq, Junior Clerk Syed Wajid Ali Warsi, Adil, Ismail, Shoaib, and Guard Shahnaz served as supporting staff.
