KARACHI: A 40-year-old resident of Lyari has been given a new lease on life after doctors at Sindh Government Lyari General Hospital successfully removed a massive 10-kilogram tumor from her abdomen.
According to hospital officials, the woman had endured the condition for nearly six years, with several hospitals previously declining to operate due to the high risk and complexity involved.
A dedicated team of three specialist surgeons at Lyari General Hospital carried out the long and delicate operation. Despite the challenges, the surgery was completed successfully without complications, and the patient is now reported to be in stable condition and recovering well.
Dr. Anjum Rehman, Principal of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical College, praised the medical team for their expertise, precision, and dedication. He noted that this case demonstrates the growing capabilities of public healthcare institutions in Karachi to manage even the most complex surgical cases.
This successful operation not only highlights the skills of Pakistani surgeons but also offers hope to patients facing similar life-threatening conditions who often struggle to access affordable, high-quality healthcare.
