Karachi's first response centre becomes operational

KARACHI: Barrister Murtaza Wahab, Administrator Karachi, Sindh government spokesman, and CM advisor on law, announced that the first emergency response centre had been initiated in Karachi, with 230 ambulances equipped with new and modern equipment, 14 beds, oxygen, and other amenities.

He stated staff will be taught to handle monsoon-related emergencies. There is a need to assist the afflicted populace. Politics will continue, but saving human lives must take first. 
They are working in accordance with Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's vision. 

There are efforts underway to establish emergency centres in hospitals throughout the city. After inaugurating the refurbishment and upgrade of Emergency Response Center 1122 at Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases, the Administrator stated.

On this occasion, Rasool Bakhsh Chandio, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Sindh for Rehabilitation, was joined by Syed Afzal Zaidi, Municipal Commissioner KMC, Mazhar Khan, Senior Director of Municipal Services, and other officers.

The Administrator of Karachi stated that a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between 1122, resulting in the establishment of 1122's unit at the Karachi Institute of Heart Disease.

In the event of a fire, 1122 will now also provide rescue services. 
He stated that citizens could dial 1122 to request an ambulance or fire engine.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority will upgrade the Emergency Response Center's wireless network, and 1122 will be connected to the medical, fire, and police disaster services so that citizens can contact for assistance in any emergency.

Barrister Murtaza Wahab stated that the emergency centres are being made more active and that the Chief Minister of Sindh had approved the launch of this service in 24 districts, which will provide this vital service to a substantial portion the province.

He stated that 1038 people have perished thus far due to the rains and that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation has established three districts with flood relief camps.

As a result of climate change, he continued, there has been more precipitation than in the past, which has wreaked havoc on the infrastructure and caused great suffering among the populace.

He stressed that trained workers should be on hand in the event of unprecedented rainfall.

The Administrator stated that collaboration would be sought from PDMA, police 1122, and other organisations that can assist in addressing the emergency situation in the most effective manner.
