Punjab CM Approves Summary For Starting Air-Ambulance Service

LAHORE: Sardar Usman Buzdar, the Chief Minister of Punjab, chaired a meeting at his office to approve the summary for the launch of the air ambulance service in the province.  

Hasaan Khawar, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister (SACM), Chairman P&D, DG Rescue 1122 and others attended the meeting.  

The CM was briefed that extended rescue services would be started from 86 tehsils while the delivery of 249 new ambulances would start from the next month. Meanwhile, the start of the rescue cadet course for students was being deliberated upon. A 12-member community level rescue team would be constituted in every UC to provide first-aid in an emergency, the meeting was informed.   

Rescue 1122 will release a tender for starting air-ambulance service. While directing to complete spadework without delay, the CM was instructed to hire pilot staff as soon as possible. This air-ambulance service will be equipped with necessary medical equipment, paramedics and rescuer to save lives.  

This most modern air-ambulance facility could also land and take off from highways and motorways to transfer patients from remote areas to teaching and specialized hospitals for treatment. Similarly, the meeting noted that the affectees of road accidents would also be airlifted to nearby hospitals without delay.   

The CM expressed the satisfaction that Punjab is the first province in the region and the country to introduce this most current service for executing rescue operations in far-flung areas.
