More than 500 people test positive for HIV in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: A total of 519 people have tested positive for HIV during the last ten months between January 1st and October 31, according to health experts.

Officials at the National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination (NHSR&C) commented on the issue saying that a majority of these stats pertain to young men between the age group of 18 to 25 years of age. According to experts, one cause behind this has been noted as men having sex with men (MSM),including transgenders.

According to the statistics surrounding HIV, 38 people were diagnosed for the disease at PIMS Islamabad in January, 61 in February, 40 in March, 34 in April, and 45 in May. The highest number (74) was recorded in June.
