BERLIN: According to Transparency International's most recent Corruption Perception Index, Pakistan had declined even further (CPI 2021).

Opposition parties lambasted and called for the resignation of the Imran Khan-led government.

Transparency International's ranking of 180 countries shows that Pakistan has dropped 16 spots to 140th place, from 124th.

Pakistan received a score of 28 out of 100 in the CPI 2021.

Justice (retd) Nasira Iqbal, Vice-Chairperson, Transparency International, Pakistan, responded to the development by saying: "The absence of Rule of Law and State Capture has resulted in substantial low CPI 2021 score of Pakistan compared to CPI 2020, from 31/100 to 28/100 and rank from 124/180 to 140/180."

There is no increase in the CPI 2021 scores of India and Bangladesh from CPI 2020, according to Nasira Iqbal.

Nasira Iqbal expressed that as long as people were free to share their minds and work together, there would be no corruption in modern society.
