Prof Dr Huma Ali elected in JSMU election

KARACHI: In elections held at the main campus of Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU), professors elected their representatives for the one seat of the Professor's cadre on the JSMU syndicate.

Professor Dr Huma Ali was elected to the JSMU Syndicate for the position of Professor with 12 votes over Professor Dr Salahuddin Qureshi's 10. A total of 27 academics were registered to exercise their right to vote, with 23 professors casting ballots and one vote voided.

Professor Dr Syed Mehmood Hasan, Chief Election Commissioner and Head of the Pathology Department, stated that elections were held between Professor Dr Huma Ali of the Principal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences at JSMU and Professor Dr Salahuddin Qureshi for the vacant seat left by Professor Lal Rehman's departure.

Professor Amjad Siraj Memon, vice chancellor, attended the polling location to inspect the arrangements. Prof Amjad Siraj congratulated the winning candidate, Professor Dr Huma Ali, on her election as a Professors' representative on the JSMU Syndicate, expressing his satisfaction with the transparent conduct of the elections.

Before the election results were released, Professor Dr Huma Ali and Professor Dr Salauddin Qureshi stated that they would continue to pursue their aims with the same zeal and determination.

Associate Professor of Anatomy at JSMU Dr Surriya Sarwat was appointed as Returning Officer, Assistant Professor of Pathology Dr Sadaf Razzak was appointed as Presiding Officer, and Assistant Director of the Registrar's Office Ms Yasmeen Zawwar was appointed as Polling Officer.
