Sindh registers 3,467 new COVID-19 cases

KARACHI: Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister of Sindh, had recently stated that 3,467 new cases emerged in Sindh

He enlightened that during the last two days, 24 tests were conducted, which detected 21 new cases lifting the number of Omicron variant cases detected in the province so far to 521. 

Giving details of the COVID-19 situation, as many as three more patients of COVID-19 died overnight, lifting the death toll to 7,730 and 3,467 new cases emerged when 15,412 tests were conducted, which came to 7 per cent current detection rate. 

He added that 7,435,098 tests had been conducted against which 518,330 cases were diagnosed, of the 91.5 per cent or 474,127 patients recovered.  

He acknowledged that currently, 36,473 patients were under treatment. Thirty-six thousand fifty-one were in home isolation, 26 at isolation centres, and 396 at different health institutions.

He added that the condition of 339 patients was stated to be critical, including 18 shifted to ventilators.

According to the statement, out of 3,467 new cases, 2,884 had been detected from Karachi, including 1,090 from District East, 698 District South, 428 District Central, 297 District Korangi, 204 District Malir and 167 from District West. 

While in other parts of Sindh, Hyderabad had 269, Shaheed Benazirabad 41, Dadu 40, Sukkur 32, Ghotki and Jamshoro 22 each, Badin 21, NausheroFeroze 20, Tharparkar 13, Jacobabad 12, Sujawal 11, Larkana, Matiari, Shikarpur and Tando Allahyar 10 each, Kashmore nine, Mirpurkhas five, Qamber, Khairpur and Sanghar had one each. 

Zulfiqar Shah briefed Murad Ali Shah that the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) had acknowledged the successful COVID-19 vaccination Campaign of the Government of Sindh. He claimed that an average of 250,000 vaccines had been administered daily in Sindh during the last seven days, while 30,000 doses had been administered in educational institutions.
