UHS announces first selection list for govt medical colleges in Punjab

LAHORE: The Provisional Admission Committee (PAC) for both public and private medical and dental colleges in Punjab approved the initial college-wise selection list for government medical institutions, setting the last merit for MBBS at 91.2500 percent.

Chaired by Ali Jan Khan, Secretary of the Punjab Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education department, the committee meeting took place at the University of Health Sciences (UHS).

The attendees included UHS VC Prof Ahsan Waheed Rathore, University of Child Health Sciences VC Prof Masood Sadiq, UHS Pro-VC Prof Nadia Naseem, while Faisalabad Medical University VC Prof Zafar Chaudhry and Nishtar Medical University Multan VC Prof Rana Altaf, joined the meeting via video link.

The committee expressed satisfaction with the timely preparation of the selection list, while the

health secretary commended the performance of the UHS admission team.

As per the committee, there are 3,047 open merit seats for MBBS across 16 government medical colleges in Punjab.

Leading the merit list, King Edward Medical College (KEMC) Lahore secured its enduring popularity with a merit of 93.6955 percent. The last merits for other prominent institutions include Allama Iqbal Medical College, Lahore at 92.9364 percent, Rawalpindi Medical College, Rawalpindi, at 92.3909 percent, and Services Institute of Medical Sciences, Lahore, at 92.3864 percent.

The PAC also sanctioned selection lists for seats reserved for overseas Pakistanis, students with disabilities, and those from underdeveloped districts, accessible on the UHS website www.uhs.edu.pk.

Successful candidates must submit their college fees by December 20th, with the fee for government medical colleges set at Rs18,030, payable at any branch of the Bank of Punjab.

Upon fee submission, candidates are required to report in writing to their respective medical colleges. The release of the second selection list for MBBS is scheduled for December 22.
