PRC pays homage to APS carnage victims

Karachi: Pakistan Red Crescent’s (PRC) Sindh branch organized a candlelight vigil at Hilal-e-Ahmer House to mark the first anniversary of Army Public School Peshawar massacre on Wednesday.

PRC-Sindh chairperson Farzhana Naek and the PRC’s management committee of PRC paid homage to the victims of the last year’s barbaric attack on the APS. They also offered prayers for the martyrs of the tragedy and expressed their heartfelt condolences with the bereaved families.

The participants, who were carrying banners, posters, placards, condemned the brutal attack and remembered the innocent martyred.
Addressing the participants Farzhana Naek said “No words can express the ignominy of such an attack against children in their school”. She further said that this was everyone’s loss and it was a black day for humanity. “We are equally grieved and can feel the pain of those families who have lost their loved ones”, said  Naek.

She announced that Pakistan Red Crescent is launching a School Safety Programme across the country to provide training to students with teachers to have a safer school environment.

Meanwhile, hundreds of schoolchildren, people from International Red Cross Red Crescent Movement, civil societies, media and a number of citizens also took part to condemn the terrorist attack.

Special prayer services were held by participants who expressed their solidarity with the parents of all those who were martyred in the carnage. Volunteers and members of emergency response team of Pakistan Red Crescent paid homage to the martyred of Army Public School.
