ISLAMABAD: In a bold move to modernize medical admissions, Federal Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, Mustafa Kamal, inaugurated the new digital MDCAT question bank at the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC). This marks a strategic shift toward enhanced transparency, efficiency, and fairness through digital transformation.

At the PMDC headquarters, President Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj and the registrar hosted the minister for a detailed briefing on MDCAT Examination 2025 preparations. The presentation showcased how digitization—from standardized content to online monitoring—aims to eliminate manual errors and boost public confidence.

Defining PMDC’s role with clarity

PMDC emphasized its authority as a supervisory body: it will handle candidate registration and policy formulation, while provincial public universities will be solely responsible for exam creation, administration, and evaluation. This separation ensures neutrality in operations and governance.

• A standardized question bank built on a harmonized syllabus across Pakistan, designed to eliminate provincial imbalances.
• A secure online portal for candidate registration and real-time exam monitoring, reinforcing integrity.
• National coverage with over 30 examination centers to ensure equitable access.
• Transparent governance with clearly delegated responsibilities to admitting universities, under PMDC supervision.

Progress report and next steps

With over 97,000 registrants already and projections expecting 150,000+ candidates, the minister urged precision and zero tolerance for procedural lapses. He also recommended broadening the question pool shared with universities to encourage adaptable, yet fair, assessments.
