3,238 new COVID-19 cases surface in Sindh

KARACHI: As many as six more patients of COVID-19 died overnight, lifting the death toll to 7,703 and 3,238 other cases emerged when 17,725 tests were conducted.  

Syed Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister of Sindh, stated that six more patients of COVID-19 lost their lives, lifting the death toll to 7,703, constituting a 1.5 per cent death rate. He articulated that 17,725 samples were tested, which detected 3,238 cases that constituted an 18.3 per cent current detection rate. He added that so far, 7,368,038 tests had been conducted against which 504,193 cases were diagnosed.  

He enlightened that currently, 23,963 patients were under treatment, 23,643 were in home isolation, 26 were at isolation centres, and 294 were at different health institutions. He added that the condition of 260 patients was stated to be critical, including 20 shifted to ventilators. 

According to the statement, out of 3,238 new cases, 2,446 had been detected from Karachi, including 976 from District East, District 695 South, 521 District Central, 242 District Korangi, 219 District Malir and District West 93. Hyderabad had 186, Sukkur 53, Shikarpur 34, Ghotki 24, Jacobabad 22, Dadu 21, Jamshoro 20, Mirpurkhas and Shaheed Benazirabad 14 each, Sanghar 12, NausheroFeroze and Thatta 11 each, Matiari and Badin 10 each, Larkana, Tando Muhammad Khan nine each, Kashmore eight, Tando Allahyar and Umerkot six each, Khairpur and Tharparkar had two each.
