Massive increases in oil prices have sparked outrage

ISLAMABAD: The decision of the Government of Pakistan was heavily condemned that allowed an unusual and enormous spike in petroleum prices.

Because of the economic frustration, opposition party leaders joined their voices with those of Pakistan Tehreek-i-ruling Insaf's coalition partners, warning that a rise in economic frustration will lead to pandemonium.

The current government action had worried not only politicians but also traders, farmers, businesses, and people from all walks of life, who say it would lead to a new wave of price increases and inflation in the country, making it harder for the middle and working classes to survive.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had already stated that it would begin its anti-inflation protest march from Karachi to Islamabad on February 27th, in response to an enormous rise in fuel prices.

Amanullah Chathha, Vice-President, Kisan Board Pakistan, had also said that farmers would stage a sit-in in Lahore on February 22nd to protest this cruel and unjust policy. He expressed that farmers were already facing a dearth of fertilisers, and now they had to cope with high inflation as well.

Maryam Nawaz, Vice President, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), had slammed the rise in petroleum product prices as immoral.

Outside the Islamabad High Court, she warned that inflation, lawlessness, and extremism has returned to Pakistan under the leadership of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

According to her, Imran Khan, Prime Minister of Pakistan, must be held fully accountable for all of his corrupt practices.

Only one prime minister travels from Bani Gala to Parliament House by helicopter, Maryam Nawaz had claimed, and that is Imran Khan. She asserted that Imran Khan had only abused state money to retaliate against his rivals.

Furthermore, Maryam Nawaz cautioned that opposition groups would not allow the PTI leadership to run away from Pakistan.
