Sindh government launched 1122 Sindh Emergency Services in Hyderabad

KARACHI: As part of Rescue 1122 Sindh Emergency Services, the Sindh Health Department has formally inaugurated 12 state-of-the-art, fully-equipped Emergency Ambulances in the Hyderabad area.

Sindh Integrated Emergency and Health Services (SIEHS) would operate the emergency ambulances, increasing the operations they had provided to the city with two ambulances, in addition to those operated in Karachi, Thatta, Sujawal, and Larkana. This service is and will continue to be free.

Over 5000 patients have received medical help from SIEHS emergency ambulances, including 2543 hospital-to-hospital transfers, 1076 home-to-hospital transfers, 308 roadside-to-hospital transfers, 637 first-aid cases, and 457 other instances.

At the request of the health authorities, SIEHS built a temporary set-up for COVID-19, which has been operational in Hyderabad with two ambulances since 21 November 2020. The services continued despite the drop in Covid-19 patients.

Two thousand four hundred thirty-six adult patients, 1720 female patients, and 865 children received services. 26% of the emergency cases were life-threatening, 65% were severe, and 9% were minor.

This development of emergency ambulances has offered quality pre-hospital emergency care to individuals in need in the district of Hyderabad, as well as job possibilities for the district's technically qualified inhabitants, enhancing the quality of life.

In a severe or life-threatening medical emergency, the service can be contacted by dialling the toll-free number 1122 from any cell phone/landline.

In the future months, the Health Department of the Government of Sindh intends to continue extending the Emergency Ambulance services managed by SIEHS to additional districts of Sindh so that everyone in need of emergency pre-hospital treatment can receive it at no cost.
