Sindh COVID-19 status 'not good,' says Wahab

KARACHI:  The current condition in Sindh concerning the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Murtaza Wahab, Administrator, Karachi, was "not good."

"The rate of infection has risen to 15.5 per cent. Karachi is a central industrial centre point. In seven days, the ratio is 9.45 per cent. People have ceased taking measures, whether it's for weddings or other events, "he stated at a press conference held on the premises of the Sindh Assembly.

He asked people to use facemasks to halt the infection from spreading. 

He stated that the health department was keeping an eye on the situation. "The situation will not worsen if we take safeguards once more. Our hospitals aren't under a lot of strain right now, but individuals should be cautious about ignoring preventative measures."

According to Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister of Sindh, 39 new cases of Omicron variation were discovered when 53 samples were tested, bringing the total to 367. In comparison, 940 new cases of COVID-19 were discovered during 13,757 tests, with one more patient dead, bringing the death toll to 7,682.

According to him, the recent mortality raised the death toll to 7,682, a 1.6 per cent death rate, while 940 new cases were discovered during 13,757 tests, resulting in a 6.8 per cent current detection rate for the province. According to the announcement, 799 new cases have been discovered in Karachi out of 940 total. Thatta 15, Jamshoro 11, Matiari, and Shaheed Benazirabad had ten patients each.
