Hundreds of doctors to work without pay on Eid-ul-Adha

KARACHI: About 250 house officers and postgraduate trainee doctors at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital have asked that the Government of Sindh release their unpaid stipends.

No Pay For Doctors in Sindh on Eid-Ul-Adha 2022

Doctors have stopped working in outpatient departments. Doctors complained that they wouldn't get paid during the Eid holidays because the hospital management had not paid heed to their concerns.

In every meeting they've had with government officials in the past four months, they've made promises that haven't been kept.

A house officer at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital said that they are asking the chief minister to step in and give them their stipends.

To his dismay, hospitals penalised the junior doctors the most because they had to work long shifts and on holidays. "We have to work in awful conditions. Everyone knows that Abbasi Shaheed Hospital doesn't have basic things like water. The hygiene is terrible, and we have to take care of everything on our own," he said.
