Karachi's Aga Khan Hospital unveils a new diagnostic facility

KARACHI: At the Aga Khan Hospital, a new state-of-the-art Diagnostic Centre was unveiled.

This renovated and improved Diagnostic Centre consolidates the hospital's outpatient services under one roof. This purpose-built structure is physically connected to the existing hospital, affording our patients greater convenience.

The new Diagnostic Centre is a patient-focused, contemporary healthcare institution. The facility is light and large, with organized and designated patient flow channels, more comfortable waiting areas, and purpose-built clinics and procedure rooms to improve our patients' experience and pleasure.

The new facility will feature consulting clinics, a pharmacy, physiotherapy, laboratories, radiology, a restaurant, and the Patient Welfare Office, among other services.

AKU President Dr Sulaiman Shahabuddin was among the dignitaries at the inauguration ceremony. He complimented all the teams involved for completing the project.

"We are celebrating our commitment to improving our facilities and services consistently, and this new diagnostic centre exemplifies that dedication to increasing patient care and experience," remarked Dr Shahabuddin.

Dr Shahid Shafi, Chief Executive Officer of The Aga Khan University Hospitals, Pakistan, congratulated the teams on their work and stated, "We are ecstatic to bring these services to our patients in the local community and engage them in preventive care, early diagnosis, and treatment all under one roof."

Dr Mairaj Shah, Chief Operating Officer of The Aga Khan Secondary Hospitals in Pakistan, stated, "The significant advantage that AKHW, Garden would get from this new Diagnostic Centre is its proximity and physical link to the present hospital structure. Its expansive and purpose-built architecture will improve patient and provider satisfaction and experience."

The hospital, located in Garden, next to the tomb of Quaid-e-Azam, was established in 1967 by Aga Khan Health Services, Pakistan. In 2010, it was merged with the Aga Khan University Hospital in Karachi. The hospital's inpatient and urgent care services for mothers and children, as well as its outpatient clinics for men and women of all ages, provide women and children with high-quality care.

Indigent individuals who are otherwise unable to pay for their medical treatments might receive welfare and Zakat assistance at the Aga Khan Hospital Garden. This assistance guarantees that all our patients have access to high-quality care, regardless of their ability to pay.

Pakistan's Aga Khan University Hospitals and AKU Outreach Health Network have an extensive Patient Welfare and Zakat program. Nine hundred fifty thousand patients received PKR 3.7 billion in financial assistance in 2021, granting them access to AKUH services across our network, located in over 100 locations in Pakistan.
