Probe launched as ASH detects 54 ghost employees 

Karachi: After identifying 54 ghost employees among its staff, the administration of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) has initiated an investigation into the matter. 
As per the hospital administration, the fraudulent employees include paramedical staff, post-graduate trainees, and wardens for security, all of whom have been receiving salaries for three to five years. A letter will be sent to the relevant department to halt the salaries of these employees, it was added.
ASH Director Faisal Samdani revealed that while over 2,550 employees were previously on duty, retirements and a lack of new appointments have left the hospital understaffed. Currently, only 1,100 employees are working at ASH, with 54 of them identified as ghost employees, he said.
Dr. Samdani stated that Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab has issued special instructions to address the shortcomings and errors in the hospital working and to improve its overall functioning.
