SICVD Hyderabad inaugurates upgraded emergency, triage unit for advanced free cardiac care

HYDERABAD: The Sindh Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (SICVD) Hyderabad has officially inaugurated its newly renovated Emergency Department and Triage Unit. This development reinforces SICVD’s commitment to delivering world-class cardiac and stroke care, completely free of cost, to patients across the province.

The upgraded Emergency Room (ER) now offers 16 beds equipped with modern life-saving technologies, while the expanded Triage Unit features 8 dedicated beds, enabling faster and more effective initial assessment and prioritization of cardiac and stroke patients.

The inauguration ceremony was led by Professor Jawaid Akbar Sial, Executive Director SICVD, along with Dr. Muhammad Moosa, Chief Operating Officer SICVD. Senior clinicians, hospital staff, and public health officials attended the event, recognizing SICVD’s growing footprint in community-based healthcare.

“SICVD Hyderabad is now providing a full range of advanced cardiac and emergency services—including Primary Angioplasty, Angiography, Pediatric and Adult Cardiac Interventions, and Open Heart Surgeries—completely free of cost,” stated Prof. Jawaid Akbar Sial. “This has been made possible through the continued support of the Government of Sindh, which has empowered us to bring quality care to people’s doorsteps.”

SICVD’s expansion reflects its ambition to bridge the healthcare gap in underserved areas. The institute is actively planning new stroke care facilities in Hyderabad and Larkana, following successful rollouts in Sukkur and Tando Muhammad Khan. Additionally, new cardiac care units in Dadu and Shahdadkot are underway, expanding access in remote districts.

SICVD’s impact extends far beyond Hyderabad. With 10 full-service cardiac hospitals and 29 Chest Pain Units (CPUs), SICVD has grown into the world’s largest dedicated cardiac healthcare network, serving millions each year—without charging a single rupee.

“Our aim is simple yet powerful,” said Prof. Sial. “To provide state-of-the-art emergency, cardiac, and stroke treatment for everyone in Sindh, regardless of their financial situation.”

This milestone renovation of SICVD Hyderabad’s Emergency and Triage facilities is another bold stride toward achieving equitable healthcare, especially for heart and stroke patients in crisis.
