Humans not at risk from Lumpy Skin Disease: Livestock dept

KARACHI: Humans are not at risk of contracting Lumpy Skin Disease, according to the Sindh Livestock & Fisheries Department of the Sindh Government (LSD).

It has also been discovered that humans can safely consume the meat and milk of animals afflicted by the outbreak.

Veterinary professionals had identified the Lumpy Skin Disease Virus (LSDV) as the origin of a disease in cattle, particularly cows, that has recently been reported in the press, electronic, and social media.

In Sanghar, Jamshoro and Thatta, Sukkur, Mirpurkhas and Karachi, Farms had been infected. The cure has yet to be discovered in Pakistani medicine or vaccines.

Sick animals must be separated from healthy ones, sheds must be kept clean, and animals must be protected from mosquitoes and other biting insects by using mosquito nets and anti-insect sprays on a regular basis. Notify local local authorities and the Department of Livestock if there is an outbreak of disease.
