Civil Hospital Karachi Goes Green, Converts To Solar Power

KARACHI: Imtiaz Sheikh, the Minister for Energy, Sindh, recently inaugurated the newly installed solar power system at the Dr Ruth K. M. Pfau Civil Hospital, Karachi.

The opening ceremony was attended by Noor Mohammad, Medical Superintendent (MS), and representatives of the World Bank.

Noor Mohammad spoke at the event, stating that solar plants had been installed on 16 buildings of the Civil Hospital, and $900,000 has been spent on the project. He further explained that the project would provide 1.05 MW of electricity, effectively converting 70 per cent of the hospital to be solar-powered.

Mr Imtiaz informed those presiding that 37 government hospitals in the province were also being included in the project.

He added that seven hospitals in the Karachi division are included in this project, while the solar energy project is also being expanded to 200,000 houses.
