American Academy of Nursing inducts Dr Rozina Karmaliani

KARACHI: Dr Rozina Karmaliani, Dean of the Aga Khan University School of Nursing and Midwifery, AKU-SONAM, is inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing (AAN).

AAN is one of the major international nursing organisations, generating and disseminating nursing information to enhance global healthcare outcomes and nursing practices.

The AAN Fellowship is the highest honour awarded to nursing professionals for their effect on healthcare via education, practice, research, and policy — for advocating local and global health and wellbeing.

After undergoing a rigorous nomination and selection procedure, inductees are expected to have an international effect on future healthcare legislation.

Dr Rozina Karmaliani is the first, and only member from Pakistan and the Central and South Asian areas among the almost 3,000 Fellows of AAN globally admitted over the previous 50 years of the organisation's existence, putting the country on the map in the field of nursing.

Dr Rozina Karmaliani stated, "I am really honoured to represent Pakistan on such a significant international stage. It is critical that nurses from the poor world have a seat at the table where major policy conversations and decisions are made so that they may have a greater influence on healthcare interventions and nursing practice on this side of the globe."

She will be honoured for her services to healthcare and admitted into the Academy during the AAN's annual Health Policy Conference on 29-10-2022 in Washington, D.C.
