GENEVA: Every April 7, World Health Day highlights critical health issues worldwide. In 2025, the World Health Organization (WHO) is sounding the alarm on a crisis that claims millions of lives annually—maternal and newborn mortality.

These figures reflect a preventable crisis that demands urgent global action.
To address these challenges, WHO’s 2025 campaign focuses on five strategic goals:
✅ Preventable deaths
Universal access to safe, quality maternal and newborn care.
✅ Quality of care
Ensuring respectful, safe, and dignified childbirth experiences.
✅ Empowerment
Giving women and girls control over their health choices.
✅ Root causes
Tackling mental health, malnutrition, and chronic diseases.
✅ Equity
Prioritizing underserved and marginalized communities.
