Another polio case surfaces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

PESHAWAR: A 10-year-old child from the North Waziristan area of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province has been diagnosed with polio, marking a new incidence in the country.

According to a spokesperson for the National Ministry of Health, the poliovirus was discovered in a 10-month-old infant from North Waziristan's Ghulam Khan union council.

"In the current year, North Waziristan has reported as many as 17 instances of poliovirus," the official said, adding that the countrywide total of children infected with the virus has reached 20 in 2022
