Woman experiences the ‘Beauty Parlour Stroke Syndrome’ at salon

INDIA: A 50 year old woman was present at the beauty salon when she suffered from a stroke whilst getting her hair washed. The doctors have termed this as the “Beauty Parlour Stroke Syndrome”

The woman was scheduled for a haircut appointment and was getting her washed when the incident took place. The paramedics arrived almost immediately. However she was taken to a gastroenterologist who was unable to discern the problem and treated her symptomatically.

When she experienced an imbalance while walking the next day, she was referred to different doctor who explained that the woman suffered from a stroke while getting her hair washed.

This particular condition materializes when a blood vessel to the brain is constricted while tilting the head back. This restricts blood flow to the brain, triggering the stroke.
