KARACHI- Voicing shock and grave concern over unprecedented loss of life caused by searing heatwave in the city, Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) said that this human tragedy could have been averted to a great extent if the government had launched awareness campaign, advising people to stay indoors and keep themselves hydrated.

The PMA also accused the civic administration of not taking swift notice of the emerging situation, saying that a number of lives could have been saved if the power and water utilities had properly managed load-shedding and water supply in Karachi and other parts of Sindh.

Expressing profound grief and sorrow over the deaths caused by harsh heatwave amid prolonged power cuts and water scarcity, PMA offered condolences to bereaved families of heatwave victims.
