KARACHI: Haleem Adil Sheikh, Leader of the Opposition, Provincial Assembly of Sindh, expressed extreme discontentment on the state of public sector medical facilities in the Sindh. He issued a white paper on the performance of the Sindh Health Department.

Haleem Adil Sheikh stated at a press conference that due to the dilapidated state of public hospitals and healthcare institutions, as well as the lack of even basic facilities, it was absolutely essential to issue a Health Card in Sindh so that people in the province could access better medical facilities on par with those in other provinces of Pakistan.

He asserted that in Sindh, doctors and other paramedical workers do not show up in hospitals and hospitals of Sindh were often short on drugs and diagnostic equipment.

In Sindh's hospitals, scenarios like carrying patients and dead bodies on donkey or bull carts and rickshaws, poor cleanliness and sanitation in hospitals, and treatment of two or even three patients on a single bed or even on benches and the floor were usual.

He chastised PPP spokespersons for brazenly bragging about their achievements in the health sector and making false claims that the province's hospitals had progressed to the point where people from throughout Pakistan and even from outside were flocking to Sindh for medical treatment.
