Salman Rafique pledges budget friendly healthcare to public

LAHORE: Khawaja Salman Rafique, Minister of Punjab, stated that the government is ready to announce a budget that is beneficial to the people, as more aid and facilities will be provided to citizens in the health sector.

He was the keynote speaker at a training event organized by the Department of Primary and Secondary Healthcare.

The minister stated that everyone in the health sector had a responsibility to make earnest efforts to improve people's access to health care facilities.

According to him, the primary purpose of gathering all stakeholders was to adopt policy unanimously. Salman Rafique stated that Pakistan's high maternal death rate warranted severe action.

He stated that the WHO had always partnered with the government to improve people's access to healthcare. He stated that the health secretary was diligently striving to improve the system further.

Mentioning anti-dengue efforts, he stated that all available resources were being allocated to dengue control in the province. He stated that he would soon visit Rahim Yar Khan to evaluate the health services given to the local population. As protecting our children from various diseases is the major responsibility of parents, we must educate the community, he stated.

The minister stated that female health care professionals play an essential role in Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) services.

Salman Rafique praised the organizers' efforts in organizing the training event.

Dr Saeed Akhter, a consultant, informed the workshop participants on the relevance of universal health coverage and its objectives.

Director-General of Health Services Others included Dr Haroon Jahangir, Dr Malik Safih from the health ministry, Rana Mushtaq, Dr Jamshiad from WHO, and MS from several government hospitals in RY Khan.
