Karachi reports rise in dengue cases

KARACHI: Dengue fever cases on the rise in Karachi as around 239 cases have been reported from across the city this month so far.

The Vector-Borne Diseases Department of the Directorate General Health Services Sindh has recorded a total of 250 dengue fever cases across the Sindh province, out of which 239 emerged from Karachi alone and 11 from other divisions in September.

The VBD has registered 973 dengue cases all over the Sindh province to date, out of which 906 were reported from the Karachi Division, 36 from Hyderabad, 12 from Mirpurkhas, nine from Sukkur, seven from Larkana, and three from Shaheed Benazirabad respectively.

The VBD recorded 252 dengue fever case in January, 125 in February, 80 in March, 31 in April, 49 in May, 70 in June, 49 in July, 67 in August, and 250 till 28 September 2020.  A death due to dengue fever has also been reported from Karachi this year.
