Two new polio cases reported in Sindh as Pakistan’s total rises to 29
ISLAMABAD: The national emergency operations centre (NEOC) has confirmed two new polio cases from the sindh districts of badin and thatta, raising the total number of reported cases in pakistan this year to 29.
Health officials said the new detections highlight the continued presence of wild poliovirus in the country, underscoring the importance of sustained vaccination efforts.
According to NEOC, more than 21 million children were administered oral polio vaccine (OPV) drops during the nationwide immunization campaign held in september.
Authorities call for collective action
NEOC urged parents and caregivers to ensure their children receive polio drops during every campaign and complete the full schedule of routine immunization to protect against preventable diseases.
“Eliminating polio is a shared national responsibility,” NEOC said, calling for collective efforts from communities, healthcare workers, and local leaders to eradicate the disease once and for all.

Pakistan remains one of the last two countries where wild poliovirus is still endemic. Health authorities continue to emphasize the importance of timely vaccinations and community participation to achieve polio eradication goals.
