LAHORE: In a significant step toward healthcare digitalization and professional empowerment, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has inaugurated its first regional digital licensing system at the Shaikh Zayed Medical Complex, Lahore. This is the first time PMDC’s full-scale registration and licensing services are being offered outside its Islamabad headquarters — a move that marks a transformative shift in service delivery for doctors and dentists.
A streamlined process for medical, dental professionals
The newly launched PMDC licensing facility in Lahore is designed to offer a faster, more transparent, and accessible registration process for medical graduates, dental graduates, general practitioners, and specialists. The initiative is part of PMDC’s national digital transformation strategy, aimed at decentralizing core services for healthcare professionals across Pakistan.
“This is a step towards accelerating the licensing process through PMDC’s regional offices,” said Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj, President of PMDC. “By launching this initiative, we are empowering our doctors to begin their professional journeys without unnecessary delays.”
Services now available at PMDC Lahore Regional Office
Doctors and dentists can now access the following services without needing to travel to Islamabad:
- New practitioner registrations
- License renewals
- Issuance of Good Standing Certificates
- Requests for duplicate certificates
- Practitioner record updates and changes
Note: Services related to teaching experience and practical training will continue to be managed at the Islamabad head office.
Applicant support and digital assistance
The PMDC Lahore regional office is equipped with dedicated support staff to assist practitioners in submitting online applications. Whether dealing with portal login issues, form submissions, or document uploads, applicants will receive hands-on help throughout the process.
Certificates will be dispatched via TCS courier to ensure safe and timely delivery, and applicants may also receive a copy of the certificate directly from the regional center if needed.
Part of PMDC’s national expansion roadmap
The Lahore launch marks Phase I of PMDC’s wider effort to expand regional access to licensing and registration services. Upcoming phases include:
- Phase II: Karachi and Peshawar
- Phase III: Jamshoro and Quetta
- Phase IV: Multan
This nationwide expansion will eliminate the need for cross-province travel and ensure that medical and dental professionals across Pakistan can access their regulatory body with ease.
Why this matters for healthcare professionals
Until now, doctors and dentists based in Punjab had to travel to Islamabad for licensing issues, often facing delays and additional costs. With the launch of this regional digital system, PMDC is not only responding to long-standing demands from the medical community but also reinforcing its commitment to efficient, transparent, and doctor-first regulation.
