SACP Registered 13,977 HIV/AIDS Cases in Sindh Province

KARACHI- Sindh AIDS Control Program (SACP) recorded 13,977 HIV/AIDS infected patients, since the start of their program in year 1995; out of which 13,705 were HIV patients and 239 were AIDS positive.


According to the statistics issued by Sindh AIDS Control Program (SACP), currently, an estimated 131,000 HIV/AIDS infected people are living in Pakistan, out of which 56,000 are from the province of Sindh.


Out of the 13,705 HIV positive cases in Sindh province, 12,302 were male,1019  female, 251 children and 133 were transgender.


Out of 239 AIDS positive cases, 203 were male, 33  female, 02 children and 01 was transgender.


Since 1995 till 2017, a total number of 472 deaths were reported due to HIV/AIDs in Sindh, out of them 429 were male, 27 female, 11 children and 05 transgenders.


Fortunately, so far in 2018, no death has been reported from HIV/AIDS.


More than 70 per cent of  HIV/AIDS cases were reported from Karachi city, followed by Larkana with 13.50 per cent out of total reported cases.
