TUNSA SHARIF: In a shocking development, over 100 cases of HIV have been confirmed in the past three months in the Tunsa Sharif area of Punjab, raising serious public health concerns.
According to Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dera Ghazi Khan Usman Khalid, the outbreak came to light when a single HIV case was detected in December 2024. Following the initial diagnosis, extensive screening was conducted, revealing that more than 100 individuals—including a significant number of children—have been infected.

Authorities have launched an inquiry committee to determine the source of the infection. While officials have yet to pinpoint the exact cause, they are focusing on potential unsafe medical practices, contaminated syringes, or unregulated blood transfusions.
