PM&DC issues tuition fee cap alert for medical and dental colleges
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC) has issued a formal tuition fee alert for students and parents, confirming capped fee structures for private medical and dental colleges for the academic sessions 2024–25 and 2025–26, following recommendations of the Medical Education Committee constituted by the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
The move aims to protect students and families from overcharging and bring greater transparency and accountability to Pakistan’s medical and dental education system.
Fee cap for 2024–25 confirmed
According to the PMDC notification, the tuition fee for the academic session 2024–25, inclusive of all ancillary charges, has been capped at PKR 1.8 million.
The Council clarified that this cap was officially notified on 28 April 2025 and remains unchanged, meaning institutions are not permitted to charge any additional amount under any head beyond the approved limit.
5% increase approved for 2025–26
For the 2025–26 academic session, PMDC has approved a 5% increase, fixing the maximum tuition fee at PKR 1.89 million, inclusive of all charges.
This revised cap was notified on 06 October 2025, allowing institutions to plan within a regulated framework while maintaining affordability for students.
Strong warning against overcharging
PMDC has issued a clear advisory to students and parents, urging them not to pay any fee beyond the officially notified caps.
The Council warned that any violation by medical or dental colleges, including hidden charges or additional fees, should be reported immediately through the PMDC Complaint Portal.
