Dow Hospital probes harassment complaint against head nurse at Ojha Campus
KARACHI: Dow Hospital Ojha Campus administration has initiated a formal inquiry after a female nurse lodged a harassment complaint against a male head nurse, sparking serious concern within the healthcare community.
According to hospital sources, the incident took place on Sunday night when the victim was allegedly harassed by the head nurse. The nurse reportedly managed to record video evidence on her mobile phone, which she later submitted to the hospital administration along with a formal written complaint.
Following the allegations, the university spokesperson confirmed that the accused head nurse has been suspended from duty pending investigation. An inquiry committee has been formed with clear instructions to complete its findings within 24 hours.
The spokesperson emphasized that Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) follows a zero-tolerance policy on workplace harassment, stressing that any staff member found guilty will face strict disciplinary action without leniency.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Nursing and Midwifery Council member Ejaz Kaleri strongly condemned the incident, expressing outrage over the harassment complaint. He urged the hospital administration to ensure transparency in the investigation and called for immediate registration of a formal case against the accused to safeguard the dignity and protection of nursing staff.
This incident has reignited discussions about the need for stronger workplace safety protocols in healthcare institutions, particularly for nurses and female staff who often face difficult working conditions.
