YDA and PMA hold meeting with Health Minister

KARACHI: The Young Doctors Association Sindh and the Pakistan Medical Association Sindh recently held a meeting with Health Minister Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho at her office.

They discussed their demands with Dr Azra Pechuho in detail. Their demands were approved, and the notifications in this regard will be issued shortly.

The YDA Sindh and PMA Sindh postponed their call for strike till May 10 after the Health Minister reassured them.

The doctors demanded the provision of PPEs to all health care professionals as well as the screening of all health care workers. Dr Pechuho approved the request and directed the Health Secretary to write a letter to DHOs for the provision of PPEs to all the doctors working in hospitals.

The health risk allowances equal to their gross salaries will also be given to all health care professionals, including MOs, PGs, HOs, paramedics, and nurses. She even reversed the decision to deduct the pay of health workers. She also ordered the immediate issuance of the pending salaries of PGs working in Larkana and Sukkur.

Dr Pechuho instructed Secretary Irshad Khokhar to write a detailed letter to the VC of SMBBU via the board of universities to release their salaries at once. Additionally, she ordered the establishment of a separate hospital for infectious diseases in each district of Sindh.
